The Compensation Illusion

There is a deeply held belief among sales directors that the only thing a top-performing Account Executive cares about is the commission structure. When a star rep hands in their two weeks' notice to join a competitor, leadership almost always assumes they were simply outbid. "We couldn't match their base salary," the director says, and the issue is dismissed as an unavoidable reality of the market.
